Professor Dravid is well known for his work in materials, engineering, biology, and medicine. His research involves the synthesis and patterning of nanostructures, bio-chemical diagnostics, therapeutic nanomaterials, and use of emerging microscopy/probe techniques. He is a Professor of Materials Science & Engineering at Northwestern University and director of the multi-faceted NUANCE Center. He has recently been assigned as Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Kellogg School of Management. Professor Dravid holds several patents and some of his inventions are licensed to start-up companies involved in nanotechnology sensor/diagnostic systems. Professor Dravid has authored over 200 archival journal publications and is the recipient of various research awards including the NSF Young Investigator Award, Exxon Fellowship, IBM Faculty Award, the Microscopy Society of America (MSA) Burton Medal, and the Robert L. Coble award of the American Ceramic Society.
